Don't Let No-Shows Ruin Your Revenue!

Advances in Contemporary Hearing Aids: Spring 2018

Vast technical advances and improved clinical outcomes impact contemporary hearing aid fittings. As all hearing care professionals know, the most common complaint from traditional hearing aid wearers remains their inability to understand speech in noise.

 

Recent outcomes in the professional literature (Beck & Le Goff, 2018) demonstrate that in the last two years, the unique and sophisticated sound processing used in Oticon OpnTM has delivered increased satisfaction (Beck & Porath, 2017), improved sound quality (Chasin, 2017) and statistically significant improvements in understanding speech in noise, and improved word recognition scores (Beck & Le Goff, 2017).

 

Previously, hearing aid fittings focused on making sounds loud enough to be perceived while not exceeding uncomfortable loudness levels. As hearing loss is often characterized simply by audiograms and elevated thresholds, improved thresholds made good sense and served as a reasonable starting point. However, Oticon OpnTM processes multiple aspects of acoustic information, to supply the brain with natural and necessary acoustic information to better detect, recognize, orient, separate and focus, allowing the wearer to better attend to the speech signal of interest.

Rechargeable hearing aids are popular in today’s market, and Starkey Hearing Technologies, Phonak and Signia have lithium-ion products. When it comes down to comprehensive comparisons, the Muse iQ Rechargeable performs better and offers patients more.

Muse™ iQ Rechargeable is 20 percent longer lasting, offering patients 30 hours of use, and fast, full-day charging with 80 minutes of streaming. On the other hand, Phonak only allows for 24 hours of use with 80 minutes of streaming. Additionally, the Muse iQ Rechargeable can last for 26 hours with 5 hours of streaming.

New MiniCAT 2020

Xoran Technologies is proud to announce its release of its brand new MiniCAT 2020, a small, low-dose, cone-beam CT (CBCT) scanner specialized to assist physicians in the diagnosis of sinus disease.
